And then, DD with the brussel sprouts and no.1 DS peeling potatoes. I cannot recall this ever happening before - well perhaps a little help from DD now and again, but NEVER men in the kitchen! Over the years, I have always just plodded on with all the preparations, getting a bit stressed in my mind but never saying anything. But this year was different - the assertive side of me came spilling from my lips when I suddenly said, 'There's no way that we'll get down to the local tonight unless YOU peel the potatoes, and YOU can peel the carrots and perhaps YOU could do the sprouts' Within seconds, they were all in the kitchen, implements handed out and the tasks begun.
Can you believe it?
All done and dusted within the hour - potatoes, carrots, parsnips, leeks, swede and onions for turkey and stuffing.
Guess who's going to speak up a little more often?
If you don't ask, you don't get!!

Well done you. As the eldest of 6 we always all shared veg prep for Mum especially at Easter and Christmas and there are some of my fav memories of having a laugh and a chat with all the family.
